At Northern Australia Primary Health Limited (NAPHL), the health and wellbeing of our clients and our staff is of paramount importance, especially in the situation our community is faced with during the COVID-19 outbreak.

We would like to inform you about the ways we are managing the risk of COVID-19.

NAPHL is closely monitoring all available information from relevant health authorities in relation to the current health crisis. We continue to use the most up to date advice to implement and reinforce a number of proactive health and safety measures to ensure we can continue to provide you with the best and safest care possible.

If you have an appointment

Until advised otherwise by the relevant health authorities, NAPHL will continue to operate as normal with little interruption to appointments.

For the protection of our staff and other clients, we will ask anyone to first contact our office to discuss Phone/Telehealth options if showing the following symptoms regardless of travel history (including any support people or children with the client): fever, cough, widespread body aches (flu-like), sore throat, stuffy/runny nose, coughing, vomiting or diarrhoea.

If you have travelled overseas within 14 days of your appointment, we ask that you follow the Australian Government’s current guidelines around social distancing and mandatory self-quarantine. In these circumstances, we will happily hold your appointment via Phone/Telehealth. If this is not suitable, you are welcome to postpone your appointment until you are feeling well or have finished self-quarantine.

Please call us on 07 4421 7700 to postpone or request a telephone or video conferencing appointment. Our friendly staff and clinicians will be happy to help you with any questions relating to the Telehealth process.

Protecting our staff and clients

Our primary goal is to continue to provide services in a safe environment, ensuring both our staff and clients feel as safe and comfortable as possible. You can be assured that we are taking all the necessary steps to reduce the spread of infection. These include:

  • Under the current circumstances, we ask that you limit the number of support people you bring to your appointment. If possible, come alone and we may ask that only the client and, if needed, support person/parent/guardian) attend the actual appointment.
  • We are encouraging the use of card payments wherever possible to limit the handling of cash for both our clients and employees.
  • We will have alcohol-based hand sanitiser on the front counter for you to use when you enter the building. Please use this or wash your hands with soap and water in the bathroom upon entering to help prevent the spread of germs. We are working to ensure extra hand sanitisation units are available to customers and will provide information throughout our services about safe hygiene practices.
  • We continue to abide by best practice infection control protocols, as set by our accreditation bodies for Human Services Quality Framework; National Standards of Mental Health; and ISO 9001. We continue to hold full accreditation against all these national standards.
  • We have increased the frequency of cleaning for high touchpoints and regularly used surfaces such as bathrooms, handrails, doors, door handles, desks, phones, computer equipment, client chairs, reception desk, pens, clipboards, point of sale equipment and countertops.
  • NAPHL employees have been instructed not to come to work if they are feeling unwell, have recently returned from overseas, or have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Staff who have recently returned from overseas will be required to stay at home for 14 days.
  • Regular communications between staff members will take place to share the most up-to-date information from government and health authorities to keep them informed at all times.

The health and safety of our clients and staff remain our primary focus, and we will continue to update everyone over the coming period as more information comes to light. Thank you for your ongoing support so we can still deliver great care and support during this situation.
