About us For more than 20 years Northern Australia Primary Health Limited (NAPHL) has been dedicated to helping people in Northern Queensland improve their health and well-being. Every year we help more than 7000 people through our Allied Health, Indigenous and Mental Health services and programs. Our huge range of services include physiotherapy, podiatry, dietetics, occupational therapy, exercise physiology and psychology services that cater to all age groups. Our clinicians travel far and wide throughout the Northern Queensland region to provide healthcare to the furthest and most remote communities while we have offices in Townsville, Mackay, Cairns, Ingham, Charters Towers and Thursday Island. As a leading not-for-profit healthcare organisation NAPHL doesn’t deliver these services alone. We rely on funding from the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network, Australian Federal Government and Townsville Hospital and Health Service as well as the generous donations we receive from the community. The funding and donations we receive allow us to deliver health services to people who are financially disadvantaged, have complex health issues or live in rural and remote locations. We also have a team of passionate Indigenous Outreach Workers who deliver our Integrated Team Care (ITC) program which aims to address health and life expectancy gaps between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-indigenous Australians. The ITC team is helping to improve access to mainstream primary health services for indigenous Australians. Nearly 20 per cent of our staff identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders. In Townsville we have our Refugee Health Nurses who work with people who have settled in Australia under the Federal Government’s Humanitarian Program. Our Refugee Health Nurses work closely with the Townsville Multicultural Group (TMSG) and support new refugees to connect them into General Practice and other health services. NAPHL has also been the lead agency for headspace Townsville for more than 10 years, and more recently headspace Mackay. Our headspace centres provide free, confidential mental health services for people aged between 12 to 25. Clients receive support for physical health, mental health, drug and alcohol issues, employment and education support. Our Headspace programs also work closely with youth in the community, visiting schools and providing opportunities for local youth to network and support each other. For clients who don’t meet the eligibility of our funded programs, we have a huge range of private practice services which we are continually expanding. NAPHL is a member-based organisation made up mainly of General Practitioners and other primary care providers. We are continuing to increase the work we do with the GP community and aim to provide networking opportunities, professional development and advocacy to GPs.
