Northern Australia Primary Health Limited (NAPHL) is committed to a vision of a healthier future for all Australians. We do this by providing refugee health services that complement the care provided by hospitals and GPs.
The Refugee Health Nurse, Georgia Green works with culturally and linguistically diverse groups who have arrived under the Australian Government’s Humanitarian Program to improve access to appropriate health services and health care in the Townsville Region.
SERVICES AND SUPPORTS
The Refugee Health Nurse works closely with the Townsville Multicultural Support Group (TMSG) welcoming and settlement services, General Practitioners, Townsville Hospital Services, Townsville Public Health Unit (TPHU) and referral agencies in coordinating services for newly settled refugees. Some of our services include:
Health Assessments
Associated Health Referrals
Ongoing Health Care
The Nurse follows through to ensure that each client has access to culturally responsive required health services, how the system works, and how to navigate it.
The Nurse knows the locally available services and advocates for the clients including rights and
responsibilities and issues of confidentiality and privacy.
The Nurse works in partnership with local health and other services to ensure that humanitarian entrants who are relocated to Townsville feel welcome: and are treated with compassion and dignity, so they may effectively integrate, rebuilding their lives in our community.
